Organizational Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Investment Management Division of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund. The Information Systems Officer will report to the Senior Information Systems Officer.
Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Information Systems Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
(1) - Support and maintain a Messaging Protocol SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication), that consist of: maintaining SWIFT Alliance Access and SWIFT Alliance Gateway systems, SWIFT payment and settlement messaging protocol, SWIFT data such as the relation management application (RMA), SWIFT data interfaces with back office operation system Murex implemented using SWIFT automated file transfer (AFT), SWIFT batch processes and performing SWIFT data quality assurance.
  • Liaise with the investment Operations group on SWIFT matters.
(2) - Support and maintain the Risk Metrics interface which consist of feeding daily the risk
metrics system with the investment portfolio position data in a format that is defined by Risk
Metrics.
  • Ensure that the risk interface are run every day.
  • Liaise with the Risk group on the risk metrics interface matters. (3) - Support and maintain the pre and post investment compliance rules defined in Charles River trade order management system.
  • Liaise with the investment Compliance group on compliance rules.
  • Maintain the business workflows related to SWIFT, compliance and risk systems as well as the interfaces.
  • Maintain the user access rights.
  • Preparation of all upgrades and documentation of the above mentioned business applications.
  • Liaison with the application providers for technical support.
  • This position will also act as backup of the information officer responsible for supporting the trade order management system Charles River and the operations system Murex.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems or related area is required. Experience in applying information and communication technology to financial business is required. Experience in applying information and communication technology to financial business in a buy-side investment field is desirable. Experience with the SWIFT technology (SWIFT Alliance Access, SWIFT Alliance Gateway and SWIFT messaging) or equivalent is desirable. Experience in supporting investment compliance systems and maintaining investment compliance rules is desirable. Experience in developing and supporting interfaces for financial applications such as Risk Metrics and SWIFT is desirable. Qualifying years of experience are calculated following the receipt of the first level university degree recognized by the United Nations.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the United Nations is an advantage.
Assessment Method
The evaluation of qualified applicants may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
