Background
UNDP supports the Government of India in its vision to achieve faster, and more inclusive growth. Guided by the Millennium Development Goals and the Eleventh Five Year Plan, UNDP works to promote social, economic and political inclusion for the most disadvantaged. The UNDP Energy and Environment (E&E) Unit supports low-carbon, climate resilient development in India. The E&E unit supports the Indian Government to meet national commitments under the UN Framework Convention for Climate Change and other multilateral agreements. Cross-cutting themes of specific interest are capacity development, inclusion, technical support and South-South cooperation.
UNDP supports the implementation of national policy initiative in conservation and sustainable use of natural resources and arresting land degradation. Biodiversity conservation initiatives of the UNDP supports communities to manage their resources in a sustainable manner, through value-addition and up-scaling markets of natural resource based products, as well as documenting and equitable sharing of benefits that arise from traditional knowledge.
The incumbent will work as per the duties and responsibilities listed below and will work under the overall supervision of the Assistant Country Director and Head of Energy and Environment Unit and direct supervision of the Programme Analyst-Natural Resources, Energy and Environment Unit.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Management:
  • Maintain financial records and monitor systems to record and reconcile expenditures, balances, payments, statements and other data for day-to day transactions and reports;
  • Ensure strategic resource management, including planning and tracking of available resources & monitoring of expenditure as per approved project work plan & budget;
  • Maintain expenditure ledgers and updated approval levels by source of funds using ERP system for projects managed by the division;
  • Review and reconciliation of the various MIS reports;
  • Collate and process financial reports into project wise quarterly financial reports against project advances.
Budgeting:
  • Facilitate preparation of the annual work plan and budget;
  • Facilitate monitoring and analysis of the annual work plan & budget;
  • Revise budget to indicate requirements under appropriate heads of expenditure.
Others:
  • Assist in conducting of management and financial audit of projects;
  • Manage support costs and office expenditure;
  • Coordinate with operational staff in different hubs on financial systems, queries, reports, schedules, etc.;
  • Perform any other tasks assigned from time to time by the Programme Analyst.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
  • University Bachelors level Degree.
Experience:
  • 5 years professional experience in administration or finance in international organizations;
  • Additional experience in maintaining accounts, handling audits, HR management and the procurement of goods & services is desirable.
Language:
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English. A good command over Hindi is a must.
