Description
2013 is the International Year of Water Cooperation. The Youth and United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA)'s Challenge Badge series allows children and youth groups to learn about environmental and social issues by engaging in activities which are both fun and educational. The Water Challenge Badge (www.fao.org/docrep/017/i3225e/i3225e.pdf) already exists in English, Spanish, French and Italian: we would now also like to offer it in German. The volunteer will be duly credited in the publication.
The should take around 12 hours a week for up to 3 weeks, though we are happy to adjust this to suit the volunteers' schedule, as long as the deadline of October 10th can be reached. We will be in touch with the volunteer via email, telephone or Skype (as preferred) to coordinate our collaboration, answer questions and provide any support needed.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Over 20 000 children and young people all around the world have already reported their completion of the Biodiversity, Food Security and Climate Change and Water Challenge Badges. Knowing that the curricula the Badges offer are successful, popular and effective, we would like to make the Badges accessible to an even wider audience. Providing the Water Badge in German is an important step in that direction.
OBJECTIVE
With the volunteers' help, YUNGA's Water Challenge Badge will be accessible to a large community of German children and young people. The engagement of Germany's next generation in social and environmental issues is of high importance for the promotion of global and lasting sustainability.
