Job: Edit technical reports for urban conservation and rehabilitation in Cairo

Location: home-based (online volunteer) 
Description

In the framework of the project "Urban Rehabilitation for Historic Cairo", the UNESCO-World Heritage Centre is looking for an online volunteer to do the editing of two technical documents, with a complete check of the text (text body, footnotes, captions, legends and text incorporated in maps, tables and schemes,) in English language for style, grammar, spelling and punctuation. The volunteer will be duly credited on the documents.
The edited documents (Action Project Layout-3000 words, and Manual for the survey of buildings and open spaces -29000 words), should be submitted no later than 6 October 2013. Coordination with the URHC team via e-mail or Skype (as preferred) is foreseen for any questions the volunteer is not able to resolve. The volunteer should not replace technical terminology except upon agreement with the URHC team and avoid extensive rewriting of the text.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
A methodology for the preservation and the management of Historic Cairo World Heritage Property is being proposed within the UNESCO URHC project. These documents are tools for developing strategies for the preservation of the urban heritage. The manual, translated in Arabic, is used for training activity involving technical staff from different local institutions.
OBJECTIVE
The accurate editing of these documents will allow their dissemination through the World Heritage Centre web-site, as tools to develop urban conservation strategies in other historic cities.
