Background
Short-term position in Election Division
Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the appointed International Election Advisor, the Language Assistant performs the following duties:
  • Translates texts and documents of various kinds from/into English/Serbian that are relevant to the work of Department;
  • Accompanies supervisor to provide interpretation services during meetings, conferences, seminars, round table discussions, etc; prepares draft minutes and reports on those events, as requested;
  • Drafts correspondence in English/Serbian on the basis of instructions received and/or on the basis of own knowledge of the work; prepares summaries of relevant documents;
  • Collects, reviews and sorts incoming mail, dispatches outgoing mail, sends messages via facsimile and electronic mail facilities;
  • Maintains and updates files and reports, correspondence and other relevant material, keeps records on reports received from the field;
  • Manages agenda of the International Election Advisor;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Necessary Qualifications
  • Completed secondary education
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Serbian languages
  • Minimum four years of relevant experience, preferably with international organization
  • Good communication and public relation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and within limited timeframes
  • Ability to work with people of different nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities
  • Ability and willingness to work with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds and diverse political views while maintaining impartiality and objectivity
  • Computer skills including Windows 7, MS Word, Excel and Power Point
Remuneration Package
Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions is 946 Euro/month. Social benefits will include participation in the Vanbreda health insurance scheme.
