Job: TECHNICAL ADVISOR EMERGENCY FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY

Description
CARE seeks a highly experienced Technica l Advisor for Emergency Food and Nutrition who will enable CARE to have strong technical support and advisory back-up for Country Offices to ensure timely, appropriate and impactful responses to food security crisis and to support linking emergency to longer-term program interventions. The incumbent must have expertise in food security and nutrition in chronic and transitory food insecure environments, as well as its links with long-term food security programs. The Technical Advisor (TA) reports directly to the CARE's Senior Advisor for Emergency Food Security and works closely with the Emergency Humanitrian Assistance Team (EHAT) staff and other concerned PPLA staff, partiuclalry in FLJ but also with SRMH and Gender Equity & Empowerment teams. S/he will also have contacts with relevant staff in RMUs, COs and other CI food security units including CARE UK, CARE Canada, CARE Austaralia and CARE's Emergency Group (CEG).
Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of the CARE International's Emergency Food and Nutrition Security Strategy.
  • Provide surge support to CARE's Country Offices, especially those at high risks of disasters.
  • Provide support in capacity development and training to CARE and its staff.
  • The TA is expected to play a critical role in supporting the development of CARE's technical capacity and CARE's and its partners staff capacity as well.
  • Work closely with COs on documentation of lessons learned and good practices that support CARE's effots to demonstrate its food security and nutrition programs' impact.
  • Grants and contracts management for Title II programs.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Sceince, International Development or any related humanitrian field
  • 5-8 years humanitrian work experience with specific focus on assessment, analysis, design and implementation of food security and nutrition programs, M&E, cash transfer and vouchers programs, logistics and food aid management.
  • Substantial experience in deployment and in responding to major emergencies and working with appropriate emergency donors and relevant UN agencies (e.g. FFP, OFDA, USAID, ECHO, UNHCR, WFP, etc.).
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Masters degree in food security, nutrition, public health or any related field
  • 5-8 years experience in assessing, designing, coordinating, implementing, and/or evaluating emergency food security and nutrition operations/programs.
  • Experience in managing transition from emergency to long-term programs through DRR and resilience building.
  • Experience in developing training packages and resources materials and leading training activities in emergency situations.
  • Experience in mainstreaming gender and integrating nutrition into food security programs
