We are looking for a talented Senior Strategy Manager to join the Advance Strategy Research -ASR finance team to provide strategic support to the incubations, key initiatives and concepts developed under the leadership of Microsoft’s Chief Strategy & Research officer. This role entails supporting new technology incubations coming out of Startup Business Group (SBG) and MSR orgs in the areas of Robotics, Spatial video, 3D printing, NUI, virtual reality, big data and other next generation technologies.
The ASR Strategy Finance team is a dynamic, hard-working and fast-paced group in which you can do your best creative work and develop your full potential. The person filling this position will work closely with the leaders and teams in the ASR organizations and will play a key role in the strategic support for major investments. As a Senior Strategy Manager, you will be part of a small team of bright and practical thinkers who can frame complex strategic problems to develop clear recommendations; drive effective cross-company teamwork; and present to and discuss recommendations with executives. Role description:
The key roles & responsibilities include overall landscape analysis, market assessment, competitive research, and monetization strategy and business model. The right candidate is expected to have strong strategic thinking, presentation skills and have a proven record of doing efficient analytics and insightful analysis.
Detailed Description:
SBG looks across the entire spectrum of Microsoft businesses and future opportunities to focus on:
- Cross-cutting strategic issues that affect multiple business divisions
- Disruptive business trends that may be threats and opportunities to Microsoft
- Analysis of strategic growth initiatives.
- Support “buy vs. build” analysis.
- Investigate strategic alliance opportunities
- Create industry landscape’s and competitor maps for new businesses or incubation initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of components of the annual strategic reviews.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
• 5+ years of demonstrated strategy work experience at a high tech company or experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm specializing in disruptive technologies, and/or technology related mergers and acquisitions.
• Experience in business / financial modeling preferred
• Prior entrepreneurial experience, working in venture capital investments, and/or strategy roles supporting technology incubations/start-ups is strongly desired.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or other related discipline; MBA preferred.
