Job Category: Software Engineering: Development
Location: Redmond, WA, US
Job ID: 829109-122595
Division: MS Business Solutions (Dynamics)
Description
Become a critical part of Office 365, the industry leader productivity suite and one of the fastest growing businesses at Microsoft. Our team, as part of the Information Protection group, provides the backbone of anti-abuse and security features for the enterprise-level service known as Exchange Online Protection (EOP) that is responsible for successfully overseeing billions of messages for tens of millions of users.
As a software development engineer on the team you will be responsible for designing features end to end - including system architecture, code, deployment, scale, performance aspects, from conception to delivery. We use multiple technologies and frameworks - PowerShell, ASP.Net, WCF, .Net, and primarily code in C#. You will need to ramp up on new frameworks or build one where one is absent as per product or team needs. You will be handling sizeable scope and feature ownership by working very closely with program management and QA. The position will provide continuous opportunities for cross group collaboration with partners and direct consumers of your components in order to deliver complete scenarios with high value and direct impact to our customers. You will be on-call as part of a rotation throughout the year along with the rest of the team to help keep the service running healthy and the maintenance overhead of running your components close to zero.
The distributed nature of the service, stateless nature of SMTP, criticality & ubiquity of email, new and exciting features we are bringing to market provide many interesting technical challenges to solve. Distributed computation, high-scale, high availability, geo-redundancy, low-touch are all aspects that our features need to be designed with in mind. You will be in very good company, working among very strong developers and a technically minded team. This particular position will be responsible for building the next generation world class spam filtering service focused around cutting edge performance and efficiency to handle the high volume of messages we process every day while still facilitating the highest level of effectiveness. It will involve aspects of machine learning and various content classification techniques and will be high touch among the newest components of Office 365. This is a high profile and high visibility opportunity as Anti-Spam is one of the core pillars of the team receiving increased investment and attention.
