Organizational Context:
With its 192 member countries, the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nation, is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players. It helps to ensure a truly universal network of up-to-date products and services.The Postal sector has been confronted with far-reaching changes over the past years. It has become essential for Posts to apply the latest technology in order to respond effectively to the evolution of their customer needs.The Postal Technology Centre (PTC) of the UPU acts as the link between technology and the needs of the postal industry by becoming the first choice in providing IT solutions, applications and services that enable the delivery of international and national postal services.
Main duties:
1) Application administration tasks and support (60%) through Service Desk tool (tickets)Management of all PTC applications (mail services and financial services):
  • Implementing changes related to users, agreements between partners
  • Coordinating changes with designated operators and third parties
  • Monitoring errors, reports and rejected messages, contacting our users
  • Certification authority operations - managing licences and encryption certificates (PKI).
  • Managing and configuring FTP permissions, based on AD.
  • Monitoring EDI services (incoming/outgoing electronic data).Creating and maintaining users.
  • Monitoring data refreshing in systems and operation centre dashboards
2) Proactive monitoring and reporting (20%).
  • Following user activity and advising users in case of incidents.
  • Producing monthly reports for other departments and providing first-level support.
  • Maintaining EDI global table and monthly status reports.
  • Performing regular evaluations of user activities.Maintaining documentation/keeping procedures up to date
3) EDI third-level support (10%).
  • Providing third-level support on UPU EDI messaging standard.
  • Maintaining a complete list of EDI mail contacts4) Quality (10%).
  • Helping to identify areas of improvement at application and reports levels (e.g. writing functional specifications for new reporting applications, etc.).
  • Defining and performing test cases for specific updates
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education:
University degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent.
Experience:
Experience working in a service desk role or as a support team member.
Technical knowledge:
Windows (2003/2008/XP/W7) OS administrationSQL Server 2005/2008 administrationTCP/IP networking knowledgeGood practical knowledge of at least one of the following: SQL language, XML, EDIFACTUnderstanding of public key infrastructure conceptsITIL or other IT certifications would be an advantage
Skills and abilities / competencies:
Ability to work in a multicultural, fast-paced, result-oriented environmentReliability and flexibilityExcellent communication skills (customer service focus), interacting with technical and non-technical contacts at all levels
Language skills:
Proficiency in English. Ability to communicate in French and other languages used in the United Nations system would be an advantage.
