Research Officer with the Research Group of 'Chronic Diseases, Epidemiology and Genetics' under the Centre for Control of Chronic Diseases (Advertisement #341/13)

icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position ofResearch Officer with the Research Group of 'Chronic Diseases, Epidemiology and Genetics' under the Centre for Control of Chronic Diseases. The appointment will be made on a contractual service agreement basis for 3 months, which may be extended for further period depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

Duty station – Dhaka

Salary – Tk.33,386/- (consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible.

Job Profile

• Project Implementation
• Prepare weekly work plan for the laboratory works of the project; Support team to facilitate lab activities; Collect, process and store biological specimens from enrolled patients and healthy subjects as described in the study protocol; monitor storage temperature when kept in -20 or ultralow freezers, keep log of temperature and other relevant records; Check sample storage system periodically and update record of using stored samples; Follow up of the lab logistics to ensure adequate logistics supply for lab and field staff; Raising requisitions for the procurement of kits, reagents; Logistics, stationeries through proper channel; Data entry and report writing; Follow up and report to lab supervisor regarding on day to day work in order to conduct high quality research.

• Laboratory Diagnosis:
• Separation of plasma and serum from blood; Ficoll separation of blood cells (PBMC and PMN); DNA extraction from whole blood and storage; Assist Senior Scientific Officer in performing analysis of lipid profile in serum using Auto-analyzer; Follow-up for the maintenance of equipment; Understand and maintain the quality assurance procedure for laboratory testing in order to adherence to quality guidelines in laboratory test processes and results.

• Organizing Samples Shipment :
• Specimens for overseas shipment; Prepare documents for samples shipment; Communicating with the shippers and consignee; Monitoring the packaging and shipment of the study specimens; Keeping records of all documents related to the shipment in order to ensure smooth and quality samples shipment.

Requirements:

Education and Relevant Experience:

• Bachelor degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology or Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology
• 1 year of experience in the relevant field.
