Description
Microsoft’s Department of Defense Services Region has an immediate opening for a Program Manager to lead a high performing team of information technology services professionals with end-to-end services delivery responsibilities. The opportunity exists to manage the delivery of innovative and creative solutions to have a direct, positive impact on U.S. Navy and Marine Corps customers. The Program Manager role has primary responsibility for comprehensive services business management for a set of accounts within the U.S. Navy enterprise. The Program Manager role is accountable for delivering end-to-end IT services, including identifying, developing, growing, and delivering enterprise strategy opportunities in the Enterprise Strategy, IT Consulting Services and Premier Support areas. At the core of the successful Program Manager role is leading and managing delivery excellence, customer satisfaction, business operations, contract renewals, personnel workload, and resource and staff management. The Program Manager will develop strategic plans to grow Microsoft's enterprise strategy, consulting services, and Premier Support business in alignment with our U.S. Navy and Marine Corps customers, Sales Executives, and delivery partners.
The successful Program Manager’s focus areas will include: Strong people management and leadership, business operations (operating and budgeted expense), and resource allocation (headcount and workforce planning). He/she will need to lead and motivate others, have a high level of selling skills, customer and partner service skills, and have the ability to think operationally and strategically. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and presentation skills as well as have the ability to interface effectively with employees and customers at all levels. Direct reports will include Premier (operations and support) and consulting individual contributors who represent some of the most senior technologists in Microsoft's field organization. This position will require direct people management and strong people leadership skills of a multi-disciplined, highly skilled team.
Qualified candidates will have an undergraduate degree. An advanced degree or equivalent work experience in leading a services team within the federal government is preferred. An understanding of government contracting, defense budgets, and acquisition programs is essential in a services delivery environment with multi-tasking and multi-resource requirements. Experience in the Department of Defense and the Navy and Marine Corps in particular is preferred. The candidate must have 12+ year’s industry related consulting or DOD experience. Candidates must understand technology and have the background to provide leadership for a highly skilled services team of 10-18 professionals. Strong oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, business development, negotiation skills, and a demonstrated effectiveness in a managerial role are required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and MCSE certifications are desirable. A current Department of Defense Security Clearance is preferred and ability to obtain and hold a DOD security clearance is required for the position. Candidate should have the ability to travel up to 50% of the time or as required. Desired location is the greater Washington, D.C. metro area.
