Creating these devices involves a close partnership between hardware and software engineers, designers, and manufacturing. We are currently building the next generation and Surface needs you! The Surface team is looking for an electrical engineer who is recognized as a product expert in manufacturing to collaborate with members across the Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain organizations to deliver results that will ensure our hardware products continue to delight our customers and meet volume manufacturing cost and quality goals. Major Responsibilities include: Memory Subsystem design, including component selection and qualification for DDR, SSD, and flash System integration and performance validation on high speed digital interface, including PCIe, DDR3/4, SATA, MIPI, USB3, DP etc… Performing root cause analysis of issues in memory and storage subsystem, including characterization, data analysis, providing conclusions and generating actionable reports. Facilitate technology development activities with suppliers. Leveraging supplier R&D resources to develop concepts and parts Manage logistics and part delivery for builds Work with suppliers and internal team on reliability test development Qualifications: B.S. Electrical or Computer engineering. Five years of product development experience, prefer to have direct experience on medium or high-volume consumer electronic devices. Direct design and testing experience on memory interface, such as DDR3, SATA, SPI… In-depth knowledge of digital circuitry design, good understanding on transmission line theory, hand on design and testing experiences on signal integrity Project lead experience including the design of complex assemblies of PCBs is a bg plus. Know-how with a common engineering CAD package (Cadence, OrCAD, etc.) and electronic test equipment for system validation. Direct experience with power delivery and motherboard design highly desired.
