Position Description:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end accounting close. This position includes managing specific accounting functions such as signoff of key balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and overall trial balance for Microsoft Licensing, GP.
There will be a specific focus on accounting relating to channel incentives, including globalization, standardization, and improvement of specific channel incentive accruals, true ups and payment processes to improve accuracy and predictability. This will include becoming an expert on channel incentive processes, tools and reporting. The Accounting Manager will have contact with Senior-level Finance and Operational leadership which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Responsibilities:
• Working with our BPO partner to ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
• Performs review or signoff of key balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and overall trial balance
• Provides sign off on key SOX controls
• Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
• Prepare and reviews channel incentives accounting for specific programs, including globalization, standardization, and improvement of specific accruals and true ups
• Identifies process what could go wrongs and proactively addresses them through implementation of mitigating controls
• Supports the spend approval process for Channel Incentives payments that includes having contact with Senior-level Finance and Operational leadership
• Ensure the accurate and timely processing of channel incentive transactions by monitoring key reporting with Operations
• Identifies and analyzes areas for process improvement opportunities to create more efficient or accurate accounting procedures. Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
• Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure, financial management and channel incentive tools
• Advises Operations regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
• Collaborates with the other finance departments to support key finance activities, such as budget, forecasting, and variance analysis
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or commensurate experience in Accounting or Finance
• A minimum 5 years of work experience in the following: internal audit, public accounting, or diversified private industry experience in contract management/compliance roles
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience assessing business practices for risks, articulating findings, building a case for action, and driving change
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail without losing “the big picture”
• Demonstrated success collaborating cross functionally
• Ability to defend conclusions and negotiate appropriate resolution
• Ability to effectively manage high levels of ambiguity and complexity
• Advanced competency level with Microsoft products including: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Professional certifications including CIA, CPA, CISA
• Big Four public accounting experience
• SAP Experience
