Description

The Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) within Microsoft is a global leader in interactive entertainment, managing the Xbox, Kinect, Xbox Live, Zune, Media Room and other entertainment brands. With a broad retail offering of gaming and entertainment experiences, the Xbox entertainment experience is further enhanced by the addition of the premier connected gaming and entertainment subscription service, Xbox Live. 

IEB’s growing strategic aspirations require us to revisit our current business measurement processes. As our business shifts from gaming to interactive entertainment, so too does our competitive set and our target customer set. As such, our current business performance management needs to evolve as well. 
We are currently seeking a Business Analyst to help lead day to day and long term strategic analysis for our Free to Play business under Xbox Live. 

The identified candidate will need to be adept in operating effectively in a highly matrixed organization and skilled at building and leading virtual teams across multiple business groups and disciplines. 

Specific responsibilities of the selected individual include:
- Conduct analysis and share insights around market context, strategic themes, and KPI’s
- Define Gaming Marketplace all up, interactive entertainment to follow
- Guide dashboard and scorecard evolution
- Assist business in driving key objectives: mix shift of digital/physical purchases, evangelizing partner success and best practices, and monetizing engagement and high value experiences
- Utilize metrics to inform decisions that drive superior performance for attainment, engagement, retention, and monetization for revenue, margin, and reach 
- Facilitate discussions, content, and follow ups at the Business Metrics LT meetings
- Meeting Agenda
- Address questions in response to KPI questions and specific requests of the Business Metrics Leadership team
Present key findings

Job Requirements:
The selected individual should have 5-7 years broad business experience in one of the following sectors; gaming, digital media, e-commerce and be well versed in the current and emerging trends in the interactive entertainment marketplace. Demonstrated ability for analytical thinking combined with high business acumen is a must. Desired backgrounds include financial management, strategic marketing, and/or management consulting. 

Preferred candidates will have the ability to retrieve data (currently primarily using SQL), manage/process data, identify opportunities and solve business problems in ways that non-statistical people can understand and relate. This requires excellent verbal, written and presentational skills with a focus on tangible, measurable recommendations.

Experience with analytic environments and tools required, for both structured data (relational data warehouses, SQL, SAS, etc.) and unstructured data (Webtrends, Omniture, Hadoop, etc). Experience with reporting tools such as Tableau, Business Objects, Powerpivot.
Experience with gaming/entertainment or e-commerce a major + but not required.
