Are you interested in radically improving the security of Microsoft’s products? We are looking for a Malware Analyst to join our Microsoft Malware Protection Center (MMPC) in Munich.
MMPC provides the protection foundation that drives Microsoft's flagship security products, such as ForeFront, Windows Defender, and Microsoft Security Essentials, in addition to Internet Explorer, Bing, Hotmail, and others.
This position will require you to work with multiple teams in MMPC to analyse malware in a secure environment, to test security incident response solutions, and to reproduce customer infection scenarios. You will set up infection environments to document behaviours of particular threats in a lab environment.
The position involves deep knowledge in reverse engineering of different types of malware, including but not limited to network worms, file infectors, trojan horses, backdoors, bots, and rootkits. You will be required to write analysis reports and produce anti-malware signatures. Good communication skills and an eye for detail are required. You must be able to perform well under stress, particularly in emergency response situations. Candidates may be required for occasional 24x7 on-call status to respond to security-related outbreaks.
Candidates should have some years of malware analysis experience and be familiar with reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro, WinDbg, OllyDbg, and SoftICE. A candidate should have a solid understanding of malware, exploits and shell code. Candidates should have the ability to work in a group with talented Malware Analysts and Researchers. Ideal candidates for this position should have a CS/BS+ in a relevant technical area, a good understanding of the Windows architecture, Windows internals, file systems and executable files formats. Knowledge of other operating systems will be advantageous.
The role requires fluency in English.
