Agriculture Supervisor (URGENT) Kanpelet base, Chin State Vacancy Announcement Job Title – Agriculture Supervisor (Urgent) Number of Position – 1 Job Location – Kanpelet Township/ Southern Chin State, Myanmar Contract Duration – 9 months with possibility of extension Probation Period – 3months Job Range – Starting range from 321,600 MMK + other Benefits (relocation, medical coverage, housing allowance, etc.) Closing Date – 5th October 2013 SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL is a non-profit, non-religious, non-political and non-governmental humanitarian organisation working in Myanmar since 2008. SI has recently started a program named 'Integrated assistance to the vulnerable populations in Kanpetlet Township, Southern Chin State'. This project aims at improving the self-sufficiency of farmer communities and to reinforce the economic resilience of all targeted beneficiaries in intervention area. In the framework of this project, SI plans to implement several activities, including paths rehabilitation. Consequently, SI is currently looking for an Engineer, who will be in charge of studying and supervising the implementation of paths rehabilitations. Approximate starting date: As soon as possible
Task and Responsibilities Project implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Participate in the design of food security activities and the identification of suitable implementation methods Provide technical trainings at field level and staffs including drafting of IECs for agriculture related activities Ensure that assigned activities are implemented according to project work plan and methodology validated by the Programme Manager Support the Programme Manager in the preparation of weekly team planning and weekly progress report Take part in data collection and beneficiaries identification, ensure that beneficiaries are selected according to relevant criteria Supervise and participate to needs assessments related to food security and livelihoods Supervise and lead the basic agricultural trainings with the beneficiaries Make sure the attendance list is filled properly and lead the cash grant requests under supervision of the PM Take part in data entry and analysis Supervise day-to-day assigned activities and report quickly to Programme Manager and Experts in case of problem or change
Supervise the distribution of inputs/items (e.g. seeds, tools, etc ), make sure they go to the right beneficiaries with correct quantity, and registration and distribution statements are signed Monitor field activities, supervise post-distribution monitoring Take part in project evaluation Follow administrative and logistics procedures
HR management
  • Supervise and provide guidance to a team of about 11 staffs and evaluate on regular basis their performance Contribute to HR follow-up and planning for operational teams, and identify team training needs. Respect and make sure that the team respects Solidarités International humanitarian principles and working procedures.
Requirements Previous experience INGO, preferably at least 1 year or plus on a similar position with LNGO, INGO or UN in Myanmar. Experience in Chin State will be an added value. Humanitarian values and strong motivation to work with International Humanitarian Organization. Bachelor of Agriculture or Diploma or related proven experience in similar area Experience in capacity building in agriculture and knowledge of participative tools Fluent spoken and written Myanmar, English (Chin languages knowledge will be an added value) Good writing and communication skills Knowledge of MS office (excel, word, power point, internet)
