Basic purpose
Under the general supervision of the Manager maintain and update computer based accounting and financial management systems in country and/or hub/field offices. Is responsible for properly maintaining financial documents and make all kind of payments related to operation of country and/or hub/field offices. Provide financial reports to the management and provide documentation for audits as necessary.
Roles and responsibilities
- Maintain day-to-day financial management of country/Field Offices/Hub
- Maintain proper financial records
- Prepare bills and vouchers
- Manage petty cash
- Ensure that all payments are paid in a timely manner, including payment of office utilities
- Monitor all kind of receivables and payables as per IRRI policy
- Assist management in the preparation of the financial budget
- Communicate IRRI policy and procedure to the partner's staff
- Ensure financial and budget data are complete and accurate
- Maintain and update all kind of books of accounts regularly
- Preserve all financial documents and data as per IRRI policy and ensure that all finance related supporting are provided as per IRRI financial
- policies and procedures
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and submit to project management /country office liaison
- Prepare and analyze budget variance report periodic and as when required
- Review all necessary papers for future audits
- Assist HQ and other external auditors
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/ Finance /Management with 3 years work experience in accounting audits, cash management, financial management, budgeting, taxing or related field.
- Master's degree in Accounting/ Finance /Management or related field with 2 years work experience in accounting, audits, cash management, budgeting, taxing or related field
Specific Skills required:
- Has extensive knowledge of accounting systems, bookkeeping, and financial reporting, bank reconciliation
- Has good interpersonal skills
- Is able to explain clearly to project staff, vendors, consultants, and grantees the requirements for financial and reporting compliance under donor funded project
- Has advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, accounting software, etc.)
- Has good organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Has prior experience of working in an international donor funded development organization
