Network Infrastructure Service- NIS
The individual in this role will be part of Network Sustained Engineering Team and will be responsible for supporting worldwide MSIT’s infrastructure, with a focus on creating, deploying and troubleshooting firewall policies. Are you ready to work collaboratively across groups to deliver/release firewall policies & solutions?
This person must have solid routing and switching skills along with deep understanding of firewalls. This individual will be part of a sustained engineering team and will be responsible for managing firewall security policies. The role requires close coordination and collaboration with product groups as well as architecture & Engineering teams to build firewall security policies based on customer requirements. Responsibilities include deploying security policies, assessing rule set for optimization and working with forensics team to troubleshoot security issues. There will be opportunity for creating global policies and supporting security policies for multiple customers across MS network. Experience/familiarity with tools such as HPNA a plus. Ability to automate/script network deployments strongly desired.
Core fundamental aspects of the position:
Taking Tier 3 escalations and working break fix incidents for policy issues
Creating security policies
Analyzing and deploying of policies
Network Trend Analysis
Proactive Network Remediation
Collaboration with Network Engineering and Architecture for release of new technologies
Writing Troubleshooting guides and training Tier 2 on various networking technologies
Perform Network traffic analysis
Maintaining network compliance with SOX/PCI requirements as well as auditing the network for adherence to engineering standards
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 7 Years’ experience working in network design, deployment or operations field
Minimum 5 years direct experience with Cisco switches, routers and Industry leading Firewalls such as ASA’s or Fortinet or Checkpoint or Juniper
Strong technical knowledge of enterprise networking solutions for very large environments
Minimum 3 years’ experience troubleshooting complex network issues in enterprise environments
Must have experience with TCP/IP routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
Preferred Qualifications:
BS degree in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience)
Familiar with MPLS, ISIS
Excellent knowledge of Firewall technologies
Familiarity with load balancing technologies
Exposure to wireless technologies (Aruba or Cisco)
Excellent knowledge of layer 4-7
Working knowledge of TCP/IP protocols including SNMP, RMON, IPSEC, HTTP, and HTTPS
Excellent verbal communications and writing skills
Ability to provide mentorship to technical Implementation and Operations teams
Experience with Network Management procedures and tools
Thorough knowledge of layers 1 through 7 with associated equipment and media: Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet, 10GigE HSSI, V.35, digital transmission system, switching equipment, circuit termination equipment, routing, load balancing and optimization technologies.
Ability to provide mentorship to technical Implementation and Operations teams
Experience with Network Management procedures and tools
Ability to automate/script network deployments strongly desired (Perl , C sharp, PowerShell etc.)
