BI Program Manager
We aspire to establish a fact-based approach to decision making around BI assets through a governance structure for BI and analytical programs, projects, practices, and architecture that enable the organization to take forward-looking strategic decisions. We intend to deliver the best end to end customer and partner experiences through transforming BI from a reactive service to a proactive capability. We’ve aligned our people and our programs across the Services LOB to function in an integrated manner with a common architectural and operational approach. We intend to align our investments to our Enterprise Services Business Strategies with a focus on maximizing the value of our infrastructure and our capability investments. Our partners include Services LOB Capability owners and architects, Field Engagement Teams, Business Architecture and PMO teams, Field Business Excellence Operations, Regional Operational Centers and IT delivery teams
We are looking for a BI Program Manager to drive the governance, planning, methodologies, processes, architectures, and technologies that transform raw data into meaningful and useful information towards delivery of business intelligence solutions for the Enterprise Services business. As a member of the BI Team, the BI Program Manager will primarily manage and lead the Business Intelligence & Reporting capability for the multi-year Dynamics AX program. This involves stakeholder, schedule, scope, change management and vendor management. The Program Manager will optimize the investment portfolio of BI assets, manage multi-year roadmaps, conceptualize BI architecture and design, work with the LOB SME’s to analyze and rationalize business needs, define standards and practices for processes, technologies around BI assets, and partner with delivery vendors and Engineering teams to deliver new BI capabilities that align with ES business strategies. The Program Manager will analyze the business scenarios and opportunities and translate them into clear compelling business requirements.
Ideal candidates have a blend of business and technical experiences and are passionate about reporting and analytics. You will be responsible for the following deliverables activities
Governance & Prioritization
Govern Intake - Own, optimize and prioritize the intake for the BI demand for the reporting and analytics across the Enterprise Services in alignment with the business strategies and priorities. Articulate the value proposition and drive prioritization
Roadmap - collaborate with other BI Program Managers, Delivery Managers, Solution Delivery, Business Architects, and Business SME’s to manage roadmaps that articulate the positioning, capabilities and features for reporting and analytics solutions.
Plan of Record - collaborate with solution managers and delivery managers to document and manage the formal plan of record including business outcomes, release plan, investment plan, resource plan, assumptions, risks and issues.
Deliver
Business Requirements - collaborate with Enterprise Services business capability architects, business analysts, business SME’s, other business partners, solution managers and end users to drive and document business requirements and needs including business use cases and scenarios as well as non-functional requirements. Collaborate with delivery stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly understood
Project Tollgates - collaborate with the Business Partners and Delivery partners to understand the business strategies and priorities and articulate the scope, business outcomes and targeted roles that will benefit from the investment. Collaborate with the delivery partners and Business Partners to optimize the project schedule/scope
Dynamics AX - collaborate with AX Functional and Technical consultants and Business partners to ensure the right functionality and design for right Business Intelligence and Reporting.
Data Models - collaborate with Data Modelers/Analysts and Business Partners to ensure design conceptual and logical data models that represent the information needs of the business and ensure alignment to the intended business requirements.
User Acceptance Test - Engage as SME’s during the User Acceptance Test to validate the business requirements in the pre-production environment. Partner with the delivery managers during the User Acceptance Test execution and the Go/No-Go meeting to reach approval.
Change Management - Champion the change management plan by collaborating with business partners and Field IT to prepare for adoption and realize business value.
Role Qualifications:
Education/Certification - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information management or related discipline and project/program management and 5+ years of experience. Certified Business Intelligence Professional (TDWI) preferred.
Analytical Problem Solving - ability to evaluate business processes and data from transactional systems across the ES business to derive understanding of the information needs, data quality issues and dependencies across the ecosystem.
Building Customer and Partner Relationships - experienced establishing and maturing relationships across multiple teams.
Confidence - Takes ownership of challenging situations that require engagement with Director/Sr. Director/GM stakeholders. Engages stakeholders to drive positive outcomes.
Cross-Boundary Collaboration - Takes ownership as the primary SME on the BI assets for their LOB and develops relationships with LOB SME’s, Business capability architects, delivery partners, end-users that facilitates a “we-team” culture for shared business outcomes. Collaborates effectively across the ecosystem to manage dependencies, change and mitigations that may impact the BI assets.
Interpersonal Awareness - As a BI Program Manager you are the owner of the program/projects and this requires the ability to understand people from various points of view and perspectives.
Impact and Influence - Strong negotiation and consensus building skills when dealing with internal customers, stakeholders and team members. Can identify business issues and develop risk mitigation strategies. Ability to recognize and resolve conflict on your own.
Project Management - experienced managing risks, issues and optimizing constraints
Strategic Insight - Ability to understand the broader business and information strategies, priorities, issues and opportunities areas when making recommendations and decisions. Someone who is inquisitive to challenge the status quo and understands how their program investments support key business priorities.
Technical Excellence - Experience in Business Intelligence & Data Warehousing requirements and modeling lifecycle. The candidate must have a good understanding of BI architectures, data modeling, dimensional modeling concepts, Microsoft BI products & development tools.
Dynamics AX - Experience in implementing big Dynamics AX projects for services business and building Business Intelligence solutions based on information sources from Dynamics AX OLTP systems. Coordinate with Functional consultants, technical consultants, development team and Business Partners for successful implementation of BI Solutions for Enterprise Services Business
