Welthungerhilfe (formerly known as GAA) was founded in 1962. Today it is one of the biggest private development organisations in Germany. Non-profit-making, politically independent and non-denominational, the organisation works under the leadership of an honorary board and the patronage of the German President. Welthungerhilfe Myanmar is running projects in the fields of food security, nutrition, agriculture, water & sanitation, rehabilitation of social infrastructure, and community development in Yangon, Ayeyawaddy and Magway Regions and in Shan State.
Currently we are looking for an Agronomist Team Leader in Welthungerhilfe intervention area Bogale, Ayeyawaddy Division. The project is LIFT-Co financed.
I. Summary

II. Specific Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of up to 6 agronomists in day to day work including activity planning, implementation and reporting
- Contributes to efficient, effective, and successful implementation of all agricultural related project activities according to agreed work plans with a special focus on paddy/rice production as well as vegetables/fruits
- Develop programs/concepts for field demonstrations, Farmer Field Schools, promotion of diversified varieties, ToT and promotion of agricultural services towards paddy/ rice production as well as Vegetable and Fruit production
- Support other agricultural activities mainly in the field of intensification of rice production, including variety selection, mechanization, post-harvest management
- Knowledge of agricultural mechanization in particular in the field of paddy production
- Cooperates with other active partners in the area, mainly GRET, IRRI, DoA and represents the organization on Bogale Agro Technical Working Group sessions.
- Facilitates workshops and village/cluster based meetings for farmer within the project area, organize exchange visits among Farmer
- Support in developing and preparation of visibility/promotion actions
III. Requirements:
- Adequate education, minimum university degree in technical field of agriculture, development studies, several years of experience in the field of agriculture would be an advantage
- Good experience in methodologies and technologies in rice production
- Very good leadership, communication, co-ordination skills, experience in teaching and presentation techniques
- Ready to participate in subject related trainings Very good working knowledge in English language (written and spoken).
- Very good computer skills, in particular MS Word and Excel and typing in Myanmar font are obligatory
- Solid knowledge in M&E tools
- Good knowledge in formal project planning (PCM) and participatory tools (PRA, etc)
- Prepared to work in the field (Delta area) with flexible working hours (including overnight stays in target villages)
- Ready to travel within the country
