UNRWA is the United Nations agency responsible for the protection, care and human development of a population of some 4.6 million Palestine refugees living in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and the Syrian Arab Republic. UNRWA is by far the largest UN operation in the Middle East with over 29,000 staff. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent: (A) Organizes and develops the subject of specialization; (B) Ensures the proper implementation of the subject syllabus and the evaluation of its effectiveness under the direction of the supervisors concerned; (C) Coordinates the teaching of the subject with subjects taught by other Instructors; (D) Maintains records and controls different supplies of the section and ensures proper utilization of the facilities and equipment; (E) Participates in co-curricular activities in the Centre and in different summer courses when required; (F) Participates with other staff members in maintaining order and discipline in the Center; (G) Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
PERSONAL &PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
(A) Technical Instructor 'A' Grade 12 A. Academic and Professional i) A university degree of four or five years of study with major specialization in the field of subject taught plus successful completion of a special professional teacher in-service training course of at least one year duration OR ii) Advanced university degree in a subject relevant to his/her field of specialization or in education or psychology.
B. Experience i) Two years of satisfactory teaching experience as Technical Instructor 'B' for holders of relevant first university degrees OR ii) Two years of satisfactory teaching experience as Technical Instructor 'B' or 'C' for holders of relevant Advanced university degrees
C. Language Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
(B) Trades Instructor 'B' Grade 11 A. Academic and Professional i) A university degree in an approved course of study with major specialization in the field of subject taught plus successful completion of a special professional teacher in-service training course of at least one year duration OR ii) Advanced university degree in a subject relevant to his/her field of specialization or in education or psychology OR iii) A university degree requiring at least five years of study with major specialization in the field of subject taught.
The staff member is subject to termination from the Agency's service after three years from E.O.D if s/he fails to produce an evidence of having completed a training course of one year duration, qualifying him/her for Technical Instructor 'A'.
B. Experience i) Two years of satisfactory teaching experience as Technical Instructor 'C' for holders of university degrees of four years duration; ii) No experience is required for Advanced degree holders; iii) No experience is required for holders of university degrees of five years duration.
C. Language Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
(C) Trade Instructor 'C' Grade 10 A. Academic and Professional A university degree in an approved course of study with major specialization in the field of subject taught.
The staff member is subject to termination from the Agency's service after three years from E.O.D if s/he fails to produce an evidence of having completed a training course of one year duration, qualifying him/her for Technical Instructor 'B'.

C. Language Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
(D) Competencies i) Ability to take initiative and maintain cordial relationship with all concerned; ii) Ability to conduct and coordinate training events and develop the related curricula; iii) Strong communication skills.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The incumbent will be hired on a Daily Paid Basis for eleven months – Scholastic year, equivalent to Grade 10: L.L. L.L 78,948 per day Grade 11: L.L 82,274 per day Grade 12: L.L 88,676 per day
EQUIVALENCY
Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.
RECRUITMENT PROCESS
The Recruitment process is based on the Agency's strategy to obtain the best qualified and suitable employees through a competitive recruitment process. After the deadline for receiving applications, all applications will be reviewed by the Human Resources Office and the Hiring Department. Only Short-listed candidates who fully meet the required criteria shall be contacted and undergo technical/practical tests and the candidates with the highest passing scores will then be invited to interview (see 'Technical and Practical Tests Required' below). The final recommendation for selection is based on the test results, interview assessment, Agency priorities and needs and the candidates' profiles. Where there are two or more equally qualified candidates, selection preference will normally be given to internal candidates, Palestine Refugees and candidates of the under-represented gender. If the post is a project funded post (this will be indicated in the vacancy), an internal candidate with a temporary-indefinite or fixed-term appointment selected for this post will not retain his/her current contractual status and entitlements in accordance with current letter of appointment and applicable Area Staff Rules. TECHNICAL & PRACTICAL TESTS REQUIRED Short-listed candidates will sit for two tests:
- Computer based technical test (100%).
- Computer test (Pass/Fail), which includes (MS Word 2003, MS. Excel 2003, MS Power Point 2003 and AutoCAD)
The top 5 scoring candidates in the written technical test given that (i) none have scored less than 50%, and (ii) none have failed the computer test, will be invited for an interview.
