Description
Microsoft Services is looking for a Regional Architect who has a mix of advanced technology, customer and strategic business acumen. This role requires both broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to architect solutions by mapping common customer business problems to reusable end-to-end technology solutions. Demonstrated ability to engage in senior level technology decision maker discussions related to agility, business value, and end to end information technology security is also a must. Architects are key enablers for other consultants and partner staff. Regional Architects have a passion for the customer which is demonstrated through professionalism and striving for excellence in all aspects of the customer experience.The Regional Architect applies advanced analysis skills and experience in principals of solution design to define appropriate customer solutions. To be credible he or she must have current and deep experience with implementation of large software systems. Understanding of competitive technology enables the Architect to properly assess feasibility of migrating customer solutions from, and/or integrating with customer solutions hosted on, non-Microsoft platforms.
Advanced level knowledge assisting customers in architecting, planning, testing and deploying solutions in the following is required:
o Proven experience selling consulting engagements which includes estimating, scoping, and writing effective statements of work that clearly set expectations and limit risk.
o Demonstrated excellence at presenting complex development topics to both executive and technical personnel
o An ability to articulate architectural differences between solution methods and the challenges and approaches to integrating solutions built on different platforms including a working knowledge of different architectural frameworks that may be used by our customers.
o Exceptional demonstrated consulting skills
o Technical Experience and Knowledge of Architecture, Development and Deployment techniques for SharePoint.
o Technical Experience and Knowledge of development techniques for Microsoft BPOS and O365 (with a focus on SharePoint Online)
Additional valuable skills to be considered include:
o Working knowledge of specialized application tool and library providers whether they be Microsoft partners or competitors
o Knowledge of full application life cycle design tools and methodologies, e.g., Rational (RUP), Extreme Programming, Agile, Test Driven Development, Service Oriented Architectures (SOA)
o A deep understanding of, and ability to use and explain aspects of, distributed application development in the .NET model, e.g., Web Applications, Web Services, Smart Clients, Azure, SQL Azure, UX Technologies and associated technologies and standards
o Expert level knowledge in at least one of the following Windows technology areas is also required: distributed application architecture, IIS, C#, VB.NET.
o Large enterprise deployment experience in complex heterogeneous environments
o Ability to move between high level architectural review/design and the “roll up the sleeves” level of actually doing all phases of an application delivery project
The Regional Architect helps customer account teams identify, pursue and close strategic business development opportunities while continually driving add-on business within existing projects. To accomplish this, Regional Architects must be effective in fostering executive level relationships. They also play a key role in employing and developing partners as part of the overall Microsoft services delivery model. Regional Architects help translate business requirements into technology requirements for inclusion in contracts and/or statements of work (SOW). In some cases Regional Architects will also assist in contract negotiations.
The Regional Architect will be most responsible for the estimation of larger projects, so experience performing well-grounded estimates of large projects is a critical skill for the Regional Architect in supporting the pursuit of opportunities.
The Regional Architect will be call upon to provide Technical quality assurance at various points along a project lifecycle. To be successful the Regional Architect must have proven experience managing projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing multi-phase/multi-dimensional/multi-resource projects to conclusion while maintaining high customer satisfaction. The role requires an individual who is resourceful, confident under pressure, and has demonstrated skill in both crisis management and expectation management.
The successful candidate will have a BS/BA degree and/or 10 years of relevant work experience. Advanced technical selling and customer management skills are a requirement.
Regional travel is an integral part of this position as are high levels of recognition and visibility. Travel can be as high as 70% as is demanded by the needs of our customers and our business.
