Job Purpose
In direct support of UNFPA's strategy to achieve the ICPD goals and MDG's and under the supervision and guidance of the Procurement & Supply Coordinator ensure the effective and efficient implementation of procurement processes and the provision of procurement services through the implementation of PSB's Country database. In particular, the scope of work contains the following elements:
  1. With the input from PSB- and CO colleagues, re-design the existing country database application to make all features/information fields as user-friendly, up-to-date and relevant to PSB buyers and Country office colleagues as possible.
  2. Collect all relevant information to populate all fields possible with data from PSB buyers, PSB SPC team, UNFPA Country office colleagues and other stakeholders as applicable.
  3. Liaise with USAID's Commodities Security and Logistics Division to gauge their interest in cooperation with UNFPA in this project. The aim of the interaction with USAID is for them to grant UNFPA access to their existing database for registration of medical and pharmaceutical products. If this happens, ensure that a link is built between UNFPA's Country database and the USAID system. In return, UNFPA can provide USAID with information on registration protocols for condoms and IUDs (and other contraceptive products) for countries where we have the data available.
  4. Perform other job related duties as assigned
Major Activities/Expected Results
A functioning country database with useful, up-to-date information fields that are populated with relevant country data. The achievement of this result is dependent to some extent on IT resources available to help implement the updates in the system.
  Job Requirements
Education:
University degree or equivalent certification in business administration, logistics and supply chain management, law or related discipline.
Knowledge and Experience:
A university degree plus a minimum of 2 years of related work experience preferably in an international, customer focused organization is required; or if no degree: a minimum of 5 years of related work experience preferably in an international, customer focused organization is required
Knowledge of reproductive health commodities and medical terminology an asset
Experience in international procurement and logistics desirable
Required Competencies: *Ability to analyze and utilize data *Excellent organizational and time management skills *Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues *Ability to perform well under pressure and flexibility in handling unexpected work assignments as and when necessary *Service minded *Good working knowledge of MS Office applications
Languages: Fluency in English is required. Fluency or good working knowledge of French is an asset.
Other Desirable Skills: *Highly motivated *Desire and ability to learn new systems quickly *Ability to work independently
