Job: Immigration Supervisor

Scope:
Under the direction of the Deputy Director, Programs, the Immigration Supervisor assists with: 1) day to day oversight of immigration service provision by Immigration Case Managers, including case selection and technical assistance, 2) monitors progress of grant and donor funded projects, and 3) provides a wide range of immigration services. Additional duties include community outreach, as well as other administrative duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supervision
  • Monitoring monthly immigration fees
  • Supervise daily function of staff. Coordinate vacation leave and sick leave requests. Arrange and chair weekly department staff meetings.
  • Ensure updated information is provided to staff in a standardized manner
  • Ensure on-going internal and external training of staff
  • Complete and submit immigration reports.
  • Monitor information provided to clients (orally and in written documents)
  • Review files / Case notes
  • Attend immigration trainings and research new immigration laws as needed
  • Attend CBO/USCIS meetings and represent the interests of IRC and its clients.
  • Coordinate and implement the marketing and outreach strategy of the Department

Direct Service

  • Assist clients to complete the N-400, N-600 and other related naturalization forms
  • Responsible for completion of immigration forms including: I-485 Adjustments and I-130 Immigrant Visa Petitions, Visa 92/93 Petitions, and others.
  • Assist clients to inquire and advocate for their naturalization applications and immigration petitions with the USCIS
Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelors Degree is required, Masters degree preferred
  • BIA accreditation is preferred (in progress is OK)
  • Internal candidates preferred
  • Have at least two years working with a non-profit or non-governmental organization
  • Have at least one year of experience working with basic immigration procedures
  • Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers required.
  • Possess excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Have the ability to work with clients who speak limited English
  • Be creative and have the ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: the ability to work effectively with partners and colleagues in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines
  • The ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment
  • Proficient in more than one language preferred
