Job Description
ICANN is looking for a senior executive to lead our technical and security operations. The winning candidate in this new role will provide technical leadership in the operational strategy, planning and implementation of ICANN's highly available information systems.
- Reporting to the CEO s/he will lead ICANN in capacity planning and performance monitoring to ensure high availability enterprise information systems and networks to support business operations and achieve more effective and cost beneficial enterprise-wide IT operations. This high level leader will be responsible for the overall operation of ICANN's highly available systems, infrastructure, networks, and processes including DNS operations, Security, IT services and IANA.
Based in any of ICANN's hub offices (Istanbul, Singapore or Los Angeles) and working globally, the senior executive will work closely with a team of directors, managers, and staff to deploy world-class IT infrastructure for internally focused ICANN operations.
Duties include (but are not limited to): providing overall direction and leadership in the deployment, operation and maintenance of ICANN internal systems including critical software systems, 24/7 data centers, servers, networks, networking related systems, and telecommunications.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, develop and implement procedures and oversee implementation to ensure high availability (five nines) IT-related systems.
- Direct the management of highly available systems for all sectors of the company.
- Establish forecasting requirements for any and all budgetary needs related to IT infrastructure and systems.
- Oversee management of the daily operation and staff of all technology-related business systems (both hardware and software) including voice, data, security, DNS, and office automation.
- Have overall responsibility for the development and implementation of IT-related software, services, and technologies.
- Ensure compliance with all required security protocols and process standards.

Essential
- Very strong track record in managing highly available/secure technical operations
- Demonstrated expertise with
- high availability systems, ITIL process, six-sigma, SAS 70, and ISO 27001.
Demonstrated ability to:
- Relate to all levels of the user community
- Be a team player that motivates and mentors other team members
- Plan, implement and support systems in a complex IT environment
- Set and manage priorities
- Comprehend complex, technical subjects
- Link and apply complex technologies to business strategies
- Minimum 15 years related information technology experience and minimum five (5) years in related IT management experience working with high availability systems.
- College degree in engineering, computer science, or a related subject or equivalent business experience required.
- Extensive experience in IT infrastructure including data center operations and network and system build-out required.
- Knowledge of the Internet networking technologies, Internet addressing, and Domain Naming System required.
- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to work with highly diverse, international workforce
- International travel will be required.
