DescriptionScope of Work
The Assistant Caseworker provides direct support to the resettlement, employment, and immigration team to facilitate the resettlement of newly arrived refugees, asylees and those in need of immigration assistance. The Assistant Caseworker will ensure that all refugees and asylees receive high quality services and transitional adjustment services in accordance with government contracts and IRC internal policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the resettlement team in the provision of core services such as purchasing household supplies, health screening, applying for social security, orientations, airport pick-ups, home visits and related activities that support the client resettlement process.
- Supporting the resettlement team's efforts to link clients with appropriate educational, health and social services.
- Assisting the employment team in job placement and employer outreach.
- Assisting the immigration department with paperwork related to change of status and naturalization.
- Assisting clients and employers with post placement issues and continuing employment needs, as necessary.
- Ensuring timely and accurate compliance to all reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree is strongly preferred.
- Experience doing casework preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English. Some ability in Armenian, Farsi or Arabic desired.
- Proven success achieving goals and working effectively with all levels of staff in a multicultural environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area
