Description
The role of a Solution Marketing Manager (SMM) is a fast-paced, strategic position within a dynamic, engaging community at Microsoft. You’ll be responsible for marketing solutions to Microsoft’s largest and most influential business customers across named Enterprise Accounts in the New York Metro District using a highly targeted approach. Your marketing methodology will support our capability-led sales approach to directly impact sales results across the district. You’ll work closely with colleagues in sales, industry, services, and partner roles to effectively target engagements and build the sales pipeline. You’ll partner with your local sales teams to grow the business by understanding market opportunities and customer needs, helping to address competitive threats, and integrating targeted marketing activities into account plans to efficiently show return on marketing investment.This position offers a balance of strategic analysis, broad market development, targeted execution, and business management-it offers you a great opportunity to think strategically while owning tangible deliverables. The role has tremendous potential for growth and can serve as a launching pad for more senior marketing and sales leadership roles.
Responsibilities include:
• Planning and managing a solution marketing plan. You will participate in the planning process with sales, services, and partner teams; strategize and identify targets; stay up to date on market trends; manage your budget; and align with sales priorities;
• Executing marketing programs as part of iterative multi-touch campaigns aligned with local sales priorities, including coordinating activities such as roundtables, customer briefings, and teleprospecting;
• Optimizing opportunities by helping grow the size of deals and accelerate sales opportunities; working with sales to generate leads and help drive adoption and deployment of licensed products within our enterprise customers will also be a key responsibility;
• Measuring results: Track and manage pipeline health at least monthly; regularly evaluate return on marketing investment; participate in analyzing our top deals to help target future marketing; participate in monthly business reviews; and track the deployment of key software;
• Delivering on expectations of sales Conditions Of Satisfaction (COS);
• Opting-in to available activities for national campaigns that reflect local sales priorities;
• Consuming and replicating best practices for content, logistics, and budget;
• Developing additional campaigns/activities to fully address whitespace;
• Proactively integrating Partners into marketing campaigns and opportunities.
Requirements
Successful candidates will have a BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience, combined with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, sales, and/or marketing experience, preferably in the enterprise space. MBA is a plus. Solid marketing and project management skills are critical, including defining and owning audience acquisition and retention plans and programs. Experience in working with strategic partners is a plus, as is the ability to effectively interact with senior marketing executives and develop joint co-marketing plans. Applicants must have a strong analytical mind coupled with excellent verbal/written, and interpersonal/negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multi-tasked and fast-paced environment. Excellent organization, communication, cross-group collaboration, virtual team management, and analytical skills are also required.
Deep knowledge of MS solutions, industry drivers, enterprise business trends, and Microsoft’s internal organization will also contribute greatly to success in this role.
Travel - 25% of the time in the US.
This role can be based in New York City or the surrounding area.
