Responsibilities: 
  • Develop and/or lead the development of training tools for improvement and standardization of training materials and operating procedures.
  • Drive the delivery of Global and regional training initiatives: Manufacturing Americas Training Expectations; Manufacturing Americas Procedures Expectations; Global Competency Development and Assurance initiatives; Training material development and review
  • Coordinate and execute the respective department’s training program to assure compliance with the plant training and procedure policies and to maximize operator unit knowledge and their skill, their knowledge of procedures and their skills and confidence in performing routine and non-routine tasks
  • Assist leaders in developing the competences of their staff through coordination and delivery of competence assessment process (Competence Development and Assurance) and development products (new employee orientation, Front Line Leader programs, documentation of skill assessments in Shell Open University)
  • Coordinate local activity in development of global or local learning materials with subject matter experts, learning advisors, and external technical writers to meet aggressive delivery schedule
  • Serve as site focal point for programs: e.g. New Employee Orientation, Front Line Leader Program / Leader of Teams Program, and Competence Development and Assurance (CD&A) related activities/initiatives
  • Will be involved in various activities in the Learning space such as sharing and leveraging cross-site learning in order to maximize the effectiveness of the Puget Sound Refiner (PSR) Learning Team
  • Utilize multiple approaches to develop employees (e.g., mentoring, computer-based learning, and identification of challenging assignments) while contending with demanding work schedules and competing priorities
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and assure consistency
  • Audit training programs for compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Provide clear statistical information to internal & external parties to allow management to fully utilize learning opportunities.
  • Execute processes for full utilization of Job Competence Profiles (JCP) for affected personnel
  • Provide other administrative duties and responsibilities as needed including working in SOU
  • Facilitating CD&A competence mapping and assessor training
  • Performing console operator pre-screening assessments
  • Acquiring accreditation as a GROW simulator facilitator
  • Maintains a collaborative working relationship with the Operators, Production Team Leaders, Performance Specialists, Engineers, Projects Group and other disciplines as required to ensure the development of CD&A related activities/initiatives
  • Role will participate with Manufacturing Americas Training and Procedure Council



Requirements: 
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a fulltime basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Minimum of five (5) years in a Learning / Training environment required
  • Demonstrated experience in refinery operations and/or manufacturing environment preferredBachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Must be capable of building collaborative relationships with customers
  • Must exhibit excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with Learning and Development principles, management systems development and deployment
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • Extensive computer skills (Word, Power Point, Excel Visio, Access, SOU)
  • Demonstrated ability to comfortably work with all levels of the organization while working toward common objectives
  • Demonstrates “team player” behaviors
