Maintains building inventory of computers, software, peripherals and related equipment and materials. Troubleshoots hardware and software problems in computer labs and classrooms; arranges for repairs as necessary; performs some hardware maintenance; cleans computers, keyboards, tables and equipment. Provides classroom assistance in a computer lab or as assigned; demonstrates use of hardware and software; works with small groups of students as directed by certified staff; installs software as needed for various classes; as assigned, assists students with assignments and projects, and monitors student behavior, such as for drop-in students during open periods. Provides basic computer support to teachers and staff; processes and organizes technology instructional materials; maintains knowledge of hardware and software and makes recommendations as appropriate. Serves on school or district technology committees; participates in district-level training sessions. Trains, monitors, assigns work to and assists in the evaluation of student assistants; distributes technology information through in-school newsletters; provides related technology support as determined. Coordinates and manages the use of technology related equipment such as sound and lighting in performing art centers or school media venues. | ||
High school graduation or equivalent and an Associate's (AA) Degree or higher, two years of college. One year of experience in use of computers, peripherals, and software. Knowledge of: Hardware and peripherals; Microsoft operating systems; Printer configuration and general purpose software, including word processing; database management, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, and communications. Skill in: Set-up and operation of computers; Effective oral and written communications; Rapidly grasping the essential elements of unfamiliar software; Organizing work and setting priorities. Ability to: Follow written and oral directions. Use or learn a variety of software programs used in classrooms. Keyboard and enter data on a computer. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Communicate positively with students, staff and parents. Work independently with self-direction. Evaluate situations and exercise reasonable judgment. Organize materials, work space and activities. Plan and implement a work schedule. Be flexible and adapt to changing conditions. Occasionally required to lift, move or carry equipment over 20 lbs. Occasionally required to crouch, bend and kneel to install cables and equipment. Perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies and District and Legal requirements. Meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations. | ||
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement that requires a membership or representation fee as an ongoing condition of continued employment after an individual is hired. | ||
