Description
Makerere University Business School (MUBS) is a Public Tertiary Institute affiliated to Makerere University with the mandate to provide business and management education in the country. MUBS seeks to attract and retain talented individuals in a positive, diverse, healthy and safe work environment. Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill vacant positions of School Secretary, School Librarian, School Legal Officer and School Estates Manager in Makerere University Business School service.
POST PROFILE FOR THE SCHOOL SECRETARY:
a) Shall be responsible to the Principal.
b) Shall be responsible for the general administration of the School, operation of all governance activities and the overall maintenance and improvement of the School’s infrastructure.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. General Administration of the School.
2. Have custody of the School seal.
3. Administration of the School assets.
4. Liaise with the School Bursar, School Registrar, Dean of Students and Faculty Deans to prepare the School Annual Reports.
5. Oversee legal matters of the School.
6. Maintain the School’s Asset Register.
7. Ensure security of the School’s Assets.
8. Ensure good repair of the School’s Assets.
9. Provide secretariat to the School Council and all its Committees.
10. Any other duties assigned by the Principal from time to time.

10. High level of computer literacy, with experience in the use of relevant packages.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
1. A Honors Bachelors degree from a reputable institution.
2. Master’s degree in a business course from a reputable institution.
3. A Professional qualification preferably Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) or its equivalent.
4. At least five (5) years relevant working experience at senior managerial level in a reputable institution.
5. Must be a citizen of Uganda aged between 35 and 50 years.
6. A PhD shall be an added advantage.
REMUNERATION:
An attractive remuneration package shall be paid in accordance with the MUBS Terms and Conditions of service.
TENURE OF APPOINTMENT:
A five (5) year contract, renewable once, subject to good performance.

Applicants are requested to ensure that at least two of the four referees have forwarded references concerning the application at the time of submission. c) Certified copies of candidate’s academic transcripts and certificates. Original documents should not be sent at this stage. d) Copies of the candidate’s birth certificate or copies of relevant pages of passport.
