icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Nurse with the HIV Vulnerability and Marginalization Research Group under the Center for HIV and AIDS. The appointment will be made on a fixed-term basis for 1 year, but may be extended for further period depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Duty Station - Dhaka
Salary – Annual Tk. 326,290/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances with other admissible benefits.
Benefits/facilities - 14.8% retirement fund contribution by the Centre, Children allowance @Tk.1,420/- per child per month, medical facilities for dependent spouse and children and group life insurance. Subsidized canteen, transport and daycare facilities subject to availability.
Job Profile
  • Clinical Trial and Documentation: Dispense methadone as per treatment guidelines/ protocols; Check patients with signs of intoxication; Perform urine tests, blood drawing; Assists doctor in treating abscess, providing medication, first aid services; Adhere strictly to the GCP guideline during patient assessment; Prepare study related documentation maintaining the GCP standard; Follow standard operating guideline in measurement of vital signs (weight, height etc); Collect and store different study related sample; Ensure the transportation of the samples maintaining the standard to icddr,b main lab; Maintain study related documentation in source data sheet and in study log sheet in order to administer the clinical trial related activity smoothly;
  • Triage Nursing: Receive and greet patients; Take history and perform physical examination; document details information in triage sheet, carry out initial screening for enrolling study participants for different research protocol in order to provide excellent support to the triage patients as per guideline;
  • Emergency Nursing: Establish initial management such as open I/V line promptly; Clean airway and ensure breathing and circulation; Check weight, height and vital signs and document; Provide life saving care, administrate oxygen, carry out suctioning; Reassess patient condition frequently; Process initial hydration for dehydrate patients through oral or intravenous fluid; Provide initial care as per standard patient management guideline in order to manage the emergency patient;
  • Outpatient Nursing: Receive patients and take quick records; Guide the health workers and others junior staff; Provide general health education and advice to the patients; Maintain good rapport with the patients; Coordinate with project manager and treating doctor; Maintain inventory, registers (daily stock and dispensing registers) and assist in documentation in order to ensure effective management of out patients department as per guideline;
  • Training and Supervision: Arrange training for the newly hired nursing staff and health workers; Conduct the training program as per clinical standardization guideline on patient assessment, vital sign measurement, sample collection and documentation; Carry out post training evaluation on the staffs improvement of performance; Supervise and monitor the junior nurses, health workers and other supportive staff as and when required in order to develop the performance of the staff.
Requirements
Education and Relevant Experience:
  • Diploma in Nursing & Midwifery or equivalent qualification with valid registration from Bangladesh Nursing Council;
  • 2 years experience in the relevant field. Experience in Methadone Maintenance Treatment and HIV Field will be given preference.
