Nurse (25 posts) with the Research Group of Enteric Vaccines under the Centre for Vaccine Sciences (Advertisement #425/13)
icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Nurse (25 posts) with the Research Group of Enteric Vaccines under the Centre for Vaccine Sciences. Appointment will be made on a Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis for 6 months, but may be extended for further period depending on availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
Duty Station – Dhaka
Salary - Tk. 25,412.00/- (consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible.
Job Profile
- Disease Surveillance: Carry out initial screening for study participants for different research protocol under supervision of study doctors; Counsel the study participant; Take informed consent from the study participant; Complete the study questionnaire; Maintain periodic visit schedule for enrolled participant in order to conduct the disease surveillance in different health facilities in Mirpur area including icddr,b Dhaka hospital and Mirpur Treatment Centre.
- Nursing & study patient care: Greet patients; Take history and perform physical examination; Provide treatment to the study patient for diarrhoeal illness; Observe the general condition, nature of purging and vomiting; Reassess patient condition and report to the study doctors; Provide hydration to dehydrate patients through oral or intravenous fluid; Provide care as per standard patient management guideline; Check weight, height and vital signs; provide care as per standard patient management guideline in order to manage the study patient.
- Sample collection: Receive informed consent from the study participants; Collect sample from study patients after proper counseling; Store different study related samples (blood, stool and urine) properly; Ensure the transportation of the samples maintaining the standard to icddr,b main lab; Maintain sample transport log; Collect the report and inform to the study doctors; Report to the supervisor in case of any emergency in order to collect and manage different study related sample as per the requirement of the protocol.
- Documentation: Adhere strictly to the GCP guideline during patient assessment; Prepare study related documentation maintaining the GCP standard; Follow standard operating guideline in measurement of vital signs (weight, height etc); Maintain study related documentation properly in order to administer the documentation of the study related activity smoothly.
- Training and Supervision: Arrange training for the health workers on sample collection and documentation; Carry out post training evaluation on the staffs improvement of performance; Supervise and monitor the junior staff, health workers and other supportive staff as and when required in order to develop the performance of the staff.
Requirements:
Education and Relevant Experience:
- Diploma in Nursing & Midwifery or equivalent qualification with valid registration from Bangladesh Nursing Council;
- 2 years experience in the relevant field.
