Job: Performance Monitoring and Testing Officer

Assignment:
Under the supervision of the Senior Performance Monitoring Officer, Office of the Director, International Data Centre Division (IDC), to:
  • Conduct system validation tests in accordance with the draft IDC Validation and Acceptance Test Plan and the Provisional Technical Secretariat (PTS) Performance Monitoring and Testing Framework;
  • Develop and implement performance metrics as necessary for the System Validation Tests, integrating them into the IDC Monthly Performance Report and validating their display in the user views of these metrics (PRTool);
  • Test proposed software and processing parameters against operational software and parameters as needed to support independent evaluations by the Configuration Control Board;
  • Develop procedures for the special data handling requested service offered by the IDC;
  • Support documentation efforts of the IDC;
  • Support On-Site Inspection (OSI) build-up exercises and preparations for the integrated field exercise in 2014 as the interface to the IDC;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Advanced university degree in Geophysics or a related field. In the absence of an advanced degree, a firstâ€level university degree in combination with at least 2 years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree;
  • At least 7 years of relevant working experience is required in testing and evaluating geophysical data acquisition, processing, storage and analysis systems (knowledge of the IDC, its functions, products and processes is a plus);
  • At least 5 years of experience is required with Linux, SQL and script based languages (knowledge of the database schema of the IDC for waveform data and products is a plus);
  • Familiarity with the Treaty, the draft Operational Manual of the IDC, and OSI interfaces to the IDC are desirable;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential. Working knowledge of other official languages of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission is an asset.

Remuneration/Service AgreementRemuneration for Temporary Assistants shall be determined in accordance with the monthly total net salary, step 1, without dependency benefits, of the United Nations salary scales for staff in related categories for Vienna and, if applicable, subject to deductions of contributions to the CTBTO Health Insurance scheme for Temporary Assistants.This assignment has been classified at P-4 level for the duration of the contract.Agreements for Temporary Assistance shall be made under a Service Agreement not to exceed 130 working days.
