DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
  • Attend the medical clinic on a full time basis and on call during and outside office hours 24/7 as and when required;
  • Maintain the medical clinic in good order and keep the inventory of medical supplies, equiment up to date;
  • Respond to emergency calls and assist medical officers in providing adequate care, ensure effective liaison between patient and private doctors, paramedics, family members and colleagues;
  • Perform ECG and other routine medical exams as required;
  • Assess needs of clients visiting the clinic, provide care and advise (eg benefit of preventive medicine) accordingly or facilitate referral to the UN medical doctor or to an outside physician;
  • Assist the medical officer when performing minor surgeries and other opeartive procedures;
  • Maintain high quality of sterilization techniques when assisting in surgeries;
  • Maintains proper documentation in the staff members' medical files as well as the electronic medical records such as nurses notes, vaccinations, incident reports and reports on work-related illnesses/injuries;
  • Proactively participates in health promotion activities by advising patients on different issues related to physical and mental health;
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patients' medical records;
  • Perform other related duites as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
Registered Professional Nurse who is a graduate of either an accelerated Baccalaureate Nursing Programme or an accredited Diploma Programme (3 years). A certificate in CPR or Basic Life Support is an asset.
Work Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressive clinical experience in nursing. Additional experience in emergency care or occupational medicine, first aid provider training is desirable.
Languages:
Good knowledge of oral and written English, Arabic and Kurdish is essential. IT Skills: Proficiency in computer software applications (Ms Word, Excel, Lotus Notes).
