Description
Duties and responsibilities
  • Under the direct supervision of the Information Management Officer, the incumbent performs thefollowing duties:
  • Manage the use, maintenance and technical support of databases used in the operation(IPD registration, voluntary repatriation, resettlement, etc.) including planning andoverseeing data collection, input and verifications; production of standard and ad hocreports;
  • Assist the Senior Field Coordinator in analysing and responding to requests from UNHCRstaff, local governments, partners, donors and Headquarters;
  • Facilitate and/or undertake data collection activities including planning and coordinatingdata collection methodologies and analysis with relevant staff and with Yangon office asapplicable;
  • Provide training, as necessary, to UNHCR staff as well as staff-members of implementingpartners in relevant aspects of data/information management;
  • Liaise with Yangon office on new reporting requirements and procedures as needed;
  • Conduct data collection audits to ensure that no unnecessary data collection is occurringand to ensure that all necessary data is being captured;
  • Assist in development of new data collection and data analysis tools, including efficient datacapturing forms; and create and maintain databases and spreadsheets that meetoperational requirements;
  • Archive and backup database systems; ensure security of databases; perform databaseadministrator functions;
  • Assist in compiling and calculating statistics for resettlement, population figures, indicators,and other standard, annual, periodic and special statistical reports;
  • Assist all units in creation, design and maintenance of database, maps and spreadsheets that meet operational requirements;
  • Undertake other duties as required;
Qualifications required
Knowledge and skills:
  • Completion of secondary education and/or University Degreepreferably in Computer Science, Economics, Epidemiology,International Relations, Business Administration or related field;
  • Experience in Results Based Management, Data
  • Management andReporting;
  • Advanced computer skills, familiarity with Excel andMicrosoft Access and knowledge of GIS and SPSS highly desirable;
  • Strong communication skills (spoken, written and presentational),including the ability to produce written reports in a clear, concisestyle;
Experience:
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible workexperience in the related field;
Language:
Knowledge of any local dialects of the operational area will be anadvantage.
