Background
The UN Resident Coordinator System is aimed at strengthening coordination among UN Agencies to enhance the impact of development and humanitarian activities, as well as to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the operational activities. For this purpose, it promotes a coordinated multidisciplinary approach to the needs of recipient countries, under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator (RC). The coordination of operational activities is based on the comparative advantages of each UN entity in its area of expertise, and includes sharing of information, joint planning for collaborative activities, common approaches to cross cutting issues, and harmonization of programme cycles.
The United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in Jordan joins forces to provide a well-coordinated, focused, and coherent response to Jordan's development and humanitarian challenges. The UN system in Jordan develops programmes and operations in collaboration with the Government and other national stakeholders. The Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) provides the strategic directions to the UN Country Team (UNCT) and aims to coordinate joint initiatives, and pool the maximum of financial and human resources in the most efficient and effective manner. Jordan is one of the 88+ countries globally to carry out the national consultations for the Post 2015 Development Agenda. Since October 2012, a joint UNCT strategy has been implemented and several consultations took place across the Kingdom. A second stage of the consultations is under implementation, focusing on expanding the network of partners (youth and volunteers groups, private sector, etc.), and disseminating the global MY World survey throughout the broad population. In this effort, the RCO cooperate with the UNCT, national counterparts and several civil society organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance and supervision of the UN Resident Coordinator, and in close collaboration with the Coordination Specialist, the RCO Post 2015 Junior Assistant will perform support functions for the following tasks:
Perform junior support functions related to the organization of events for Post 2015 activities, focusing on the achievement of the following results:
- Assist the RCO and UNCT in the organization of Post 2015 development agenda initiatives, with a particular focus on the involvement of CSOs, youth and other key target groups; support the preparation of presentations and background materials on the national consultations and findings;
- Assist the RCO and UNCT in the organization of advocacy and outreach events such as the launch of reports, including preparation of relevant documents, and support the logistics;
- Support the supervisor in identifying opportunities to involve and consult with new stakeholders; maintain regular contacts with volunteer groups, NGOs, grass roots organizations, academia and civil society organization, to consolidate awareness on the Post 2015 development agenda process;
- Make arrangements for Post 2015 related meetings, and ensure that relevant documentation is timely prepared and available for participants; contribute to meetings with presentations and dissemination of information, as requested.
Support the RC and UNCT in the roll out of the second stage of the Post 2015 national consultations process in Jordan, focusing on the following results:
- Contribute to the provision of inputs and ideas to pursue new modalities to roll out the Post 2015 process, keeping the momentum created by several national consultations events, the Arab Development Forum (10-11 April 2013), the publication of relevant global, regional and national reports;
- Follow up on the launch of the Jordan report tailored for national audience 'Post 2015 Messages for the future we want. Priorities emerging from the national consultations on the post-2015 Development Agenda', in terms of follow up with participants and proposing potential additional recipients of the report;
- Monitor the Post 2015 ongoing consultations at global and regional level, and timely share information with the RCO; maintain a database on activities of High Level Panel, Open Working Group, Global Thematic Consultations, etc.;
- Support analysis on priorities and on thematic issues and data emerging from the consultations, and prepare notes and presentations for meetings, as appropriate.
Assist the RCO in the promotion of the My World 2015 survey and outreach activities for the ‘Mark A Difference' campaign, focusing on the achievement of the following results:
- Assist the RCO and the UN Communication officer in developing, implementing and monitoring the social media strategy, with the objective to expand the outreach and broaden the number of engaged users.
- Contribute to the development of approaches to disseminate the My World survey throughout the country, by liaising with young volunteer organizations, universities, private companies, etc.; adapt the existing My World survey tools, focusing on the dissemination of offline ballots and the correct entry of votes on the database.
- Explore opportunities for resource mobilization (in-kind and financial) to support the dissemination of the MY World survey and the activities under the Mark A Difference campaign with the private sector.
- Attend Post 2015 webinars and maintain track of discussions to keep RCO and UNCT abreast of relevant recommendations, lessons learned and experience.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- University degree in international relations, political science, social science or any other related field.
Experience:
- At least 1 year of relevant experience.
Computer skills:
- Excellent knowledge of office software, presentation software, internet and social media.
Language:
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
