Description

Licensing Specialist - Public Sector. The Licensing Specialist will provide volume licensing and licensing solutions to customers within the Public Sector segment, Specifically focused on the Academic accounts of the US Public Sector. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing licensing solutions that result in high customer satisfaction while maximizing customer revenue contribution across MS product offerings. 

Responsibilities: This person will provide licensing solutions to customers located in the US Public Sector with a focus on the volume licensing programs within Education. Individual will work closely with territory account executives (both inside and field), as well as with customer purchasing or licensing contacts. Frequent negotiation of agreement terms and conditions will be required. Other duties include: 

• Acting as single point of contact for internal and external sales contracts and licensing issues, developing spreadsheets and pricing scenarios. 
• Developing and delivering licensing proposals, presentations and web casts, as well as associated cost/benefit analysis.
• Maximizing revenue from deals while striving to improve the customer’s licensing experience. 
• Carry specific regional Education Quota and ensure On Time renewals of existing agreements. 
• Establishing and maintaining business relationships with LAR executives and reps, Disti’s, and other Education partners. 
• Working with Business Managers and Sales Excellence Directors to track and measure MS Sales through MSLI. 
• Focusing on the T-minus sales plans, driving strategy for customers in Education, solving customer needs. 
• Developing best practices that pro-actively drive business standards and deal consistency. 
• Communicating customer requirements and licensing solutions to Public Sector Regional Managers, Licensing Execs, and Field Sales team on a regular basis.
• Knowledge transfer of essential licensing skills between team members in the Public Sector Licensing Community. 
• Working closely with the WWLP (LE’s) Business Desk, as well as the account field sales teams.


Contacts: Primary contacts will be with end-customers, internal licensing team and internal sales teams, as well as the Academic resellers. This position may also involve regular interaction with all levels of Microsoft employees, including: Sales, Legal, Finance, Operations, Product Groups, Public Sector Management and Microsoft Licensing GP (MSLI).

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Business and/ or on the job experiences in the licensing field, with a minimum of at least 5 years of directly applicable experience in sales and marketing, operations management, finance, and/or contract negotiation/management or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Substantial Microsoft Licensing experience is preferred with a specific focus in Education, both K-12, as well as Higher Education. Candidate must possess excellent demonstrated decision-making, problem solving and negotiating skills. Individual should be very organized, systematic, and have outstanding time management skills in order to work effectively. They must also be able to deal with ambiguity, be able to interact with a cross section of people, and effectively influence others without direct authority. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, analytical and presentation skills are also required. Moderate travel.
