ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The LEAF (Leaders for Environmental Action for the Future) Assistant will support and work closely with Institutional Giving staff of The Nature Conservancy's New York Philanthropy team. The LEAF Assistant's work will involve various tasks related to individual, foundation, and corporate fundraising including prospect research, proposal writing, and grant management. The LEAF Assistant may be responsible for some administrative, logistical and organizational office tasks for Philanthropy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of experience.
  • Experience using MS office, Word and Excel, and navigating the Internet.
  • Experience providing administrative support including one or more of the following: phones/customer service, drafting correspondence, organizing files, coordinating travel arrangements, or related activities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of experience. Some College preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
  • Advanced use of MS Office, Word and Excel and advanced internet navigation skills. May require Power Point and Data Base Management skills. Experience with fundraising programs preferred.
  • Service oriented. Courteous, personable, tactful and able to deal effectively and sensitively with all levels of staff and public.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to changing situations and priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Alumni of The Nature Conservancy's LEAF program preferred.
START DATE
This is a 6-month internship. The proposed dates of this one-day internship are September 27, 2013 to March 21, 2014 with some flexibility depending on individual's schedule. TNC
