POSITION SUMMARY:
ICAP at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health invites applications for the position of Data Analyst.
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Information Unit, the Data Analyst will join a team of analysts and investigators across ICAP, other departments at the Mailman School of Public Health, City University of New York collaborating on an NIH-funded study examining multi-level factors associated with late ART initiation and retention in HIV care. The study includes analysis of longitudinal data from patients in several sub-Saharan African countries as well as analysis of primary research data collected in Ethiopia and Tanzania. The incumbent’s effort will be focused on data management, data analysis, manuscript writing, and other duties as assigned.
The position is a full time, one-year position.
This position is grant funded.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Statistical analysis: Perform a range of descriptive and causal statistical analyses of the collected data to address research questions.
  • Manuscript-writing and development of abstracts and presentations: Lead, collaborate or assist study investigators in development and preparation of abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts resulting from study findings.
  • Results presentation: Construct results tables, graphs, figures, and slides from analyses.
  • Conduct literature reviews and prepare narrative summaries of findings.
  • Data cleaning and management: Create and maintain codebooks and other data documentation for study data sources.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.
EDUCATION:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of related experience.
  • Master's degree in public health, social sciences, international and public affairs, or related discipline, preferred.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficient in SAS statistical software.
  • Excellent scientific writing skills.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, attention to detail, writing and communication skills.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Background in public health and international HIV/AIDS research.
  • Experience supporting or leading peer-reviewed articles.
  • Experience with longitudinal and multi-level analysis of large data sets using SAS.
  • Experience managing and analyzing large datasets.
  • Experience in model building.
