Job: Collecting the list of protected areas linked to WH sites

Description

The World Heritage Center of UNESCO is seeking the support of online volunteers to compile a detailed list of protected areas linked to each natural (193 sites) and mixed (29 sites) properties. The information gathered will help UNESCO provide better overall support for the conservation of these sites.
Specific information and details on how to carry out the work will be given once the volunteers have been identified.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) seeks to encourage the identification, protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage around the world considered to be of outstanding value to humanity. This is embodied in an international treaty called the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, adopted by UNESCO in 1972.
OBJECTIVE
All information necessary is available on the UNESCO's webpage. Volunteers will be required to consult the nomination dossiers for concerned World Heritage (WH) sites and identify the component protected areas for each site. The target is to enforce the knowledge of the WH sites and their surrounding areas; in this way, UNESCO could reinforce the cooperation at international levels between all different organizations which are focused on the conservation of biodiversity.
