Description
Purpose of the Position
Under the supervision of the Deputy Representative, to coordinate UNICEF activities and strategic policy at country level to address gender based violence in humanitarian settings.
Key Expected Results
1. Provide technical support to country offices and implementing and operational partners in the planning, development and implementation stages of programmes and strategic plans; ensure programming is undertaken in line with the Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action. Undertake field visits and surveys to monitor and evaluate project implementation, identify problems and propose remedial action. Identify alternative courses of action/tools needed to accelerate / improve programme delivery.
2. Work with the child protection section and other UNICEF sectors and across agencies, clusters and Areas of Responsibility (AoRs) to ensure GBV prevention and response is adequately addressed and coordinated across sectors and humanitarian interventions.3. Develop programme knowledge acquisition through systematic collection of country programme experience (programmes, risk and need assessment, evaluations) in the provision of technical support related to gender-based violence in emergencies.4. Ensure sufficient financial and human resource capacity is in place to effectively achieve goals noted above; manage donor, budget and programme reporting.5. Serve as UNICEF focal point to provide information relevant to media, research groups and similar agencies and NGOs in the area of gender-based violence in emergencies.
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
1. Education Background:
- Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Public Health or related technical field is required.2. Work Experience:- A minimum of eight years progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme planning, management, monitoring and evaluation in a related field is required.3. Language Proficiency:- Fluency in English and another UN language is required. Knowledge of language of the duty station is an asset.

- Post is office based, with frequent travel, including to emergency contexts. As part of the Child Protection in Emergencies team, the Staff member may be required to be deployed to assist in large-scale emergencies.
