The US Partner Sales and Programs team has an opening for an Azure Partnerships Business Development Manager.
Microsoft is rapidly developing the world’s leading Cloud platform and needs to recruit and enable an army of go-to solution partners with active practices that support key cloud workloads such as Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service. Azure presents significant opportunities for Microsoft to win in the cloud through a deep and richly varied SI Partner ecosystem.
The Azure BDM role is responsible for: building Azure channel capacity by identifying and recruiting potential Azure partners, expanding our Azure footprint by building Azure capability at these and existing Azure partners, driving Azure revenue by growing the commitment and execution of active Azure partners. An ‘active’ Azure Partner is one who has made a CxO level commitment to build their services and applications on Windows Azure, has invested technical and sales capability in their company, and is committed to going to market to drive significant revenue by selling Windows Azure.
Specifically, the Azure BDM will coordinate with Microsoft sales and evangelism teams to identify the best potential new Azure partners with particular emphasis on partners aligned to existing and evolving competitors such as Amazon, VMware, and Rackspace. The Azure BDM will leverage existing programs from US Marketing and Operations and the Azure Business Group to quickly enable these partners for both technical and sales capability. The Azure BDM will then nurture these newly developed Azure partners to drive sales with Microsoft account teams and/or sell the Windows Azure platform independently. Success metrics include Azure billed revenue, Azure services consumed, utilization of program tools and benefits, and Azure partners active in the Azure Circle and MPN Cloud competencies.
Key competencies required for this role include: Confidence, Interpersonal Awareness, Building Partner Relationships, Drive for Results, Strategic Sales Planning, and Dealing with Ambiguity. As this is an evolving role and mission, the most successful Azure BDMs will be creative in uncertain situations, have a thirsty curiosity, be a flexible team player, and possess a strong competitive and entrepreneur spirit.
A keen business acumen and executive communication skills are a must, as success in this role is dependent upon these relationships. Experience with competitive cloud platforms is strongly desired. The candidate should have deep partnering and sales background, including knowledge of Systems Integrator business models and growth levers; as well as experience with the Microsoft Partner Network and related incentive programs. A proven track record of developing, implementing, & representing cross-group initiatives is critical as this role spans segments, industries, and verticals. A BS/BA is required along with 10 years experience in a related field. Must be able to accommodate 30%+ travel requirements. This role will be responsible for the Azure partner business in the Greater Southeast and Mid Atlantic territories. Preferred locations are Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, or Washington D.C.
