Background Information - Job-specific
Reporting to the ICT Development team lead in Bangkok, the systems assistant will support ASP.net solutions used by UNOPS personnel around the world. The developer will be a part of a dynamic development team utilizing agile/scrum based software development processes. Emphasis is put on creative problem solving, collaboration with users, and fostering an active knowledge sharing environment.
The UNOPS development team is to provide the organization with tools and resources to compliment and support the corporate Intranet, corporate Website and Atlas, UNOPS' ERP system in alignment with the UNOPS technology platform and ICTstrategy. System development domains include eProcurement, knowledge management, performance reporting, and project management.
Functional Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and maintenance of UNOPS web based systems
- Develop and test web applications (Asp.net, C#) that support corporate business systems infrastructure; develop systems that adhere to the product and service needs of internal clients.
- Implement solutions compliant with UNOPS solution approach
- Propose and collaborate on data modeling supporting organizational business intelligence and reporting needs (SQL Server 2008)
- Proactively solicit and discuss user feedback and support and extend applications as needed.
- Maintain documentation of application enhancements and configuration documents

Education/Experience/Language requirements
To be eligible for an internship with UNOPS, you must currently study towards a Bachelors or a Masters degree in a related subject or must have graduated within the past 3 years. Candidates who are currently studing should preferably graduate within the next 6 months. Certificate in Microsoft desired. Demonstratable experience with the systems development technologies from Microsoft (Asp.net, C#, Microsoft SQL server 2008) is a requirement. Ability to work in a structured environment following best practices and standards. Experience of working with solutions containing DAL, BLL and separate presentation layers desirable. Knowledge of Agile methods and Agile project frameworks such as Scrum, XP or Kanban is desirable. Experience of working in a team consisting of many different nationalities is desirable. Some demonstrated experience in participating in software development working in a team.
Fluency in English required.
