Position: Agronomist Possible
Duty Station: 1 Post for Salin Township (Magway Region),
Duration of Assignment: 3-6 months renewable to the satisfactory performance and project requirement.
CESVI is a non religious, nonprofit International NGO running projects in the fields of Livelihood recovery Food Security, Agriculture, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Health, Community development in Mandalay region, Magway Region, Sagaing Region, Kachin State, Northern Shan State and Yangon Region.
Position Summary
The Agronomist is responsible to promote the good coordination of agricultural activities on village tracts and township level, to implement agricultural activities in the target villages and train beneficiaries accordingly, to assure a smooth distribution of all agricultural inputs in the community, regularly reporting through comprehensive documents and inform project management about ongoing activities. Overall responsibilities:
- o Supervise implementation of agricultural activities at village level, on-the-job train Community Mobilizers, in all agricultural and data collection related issues according to the needs. Maintain regular contact with official institutions engaged in agricultural activities in the area and inform representatives on the state of agricultural activities in the project. Liaise with other NGOs and agencies working in the agricultural sector for experience exchange. Assure together with other project staff regular contact and information transmission to local authorities, to village tract leader and village leaders concerning the project agricultural activities
Specific responsibilities:
- Ensure tracking/monitoring day-to-day progress against project milestones and activities at field level, against individual staff work plans and against overall project objectives;
- Support the Senior Agronomist/ PLC in designing and implementing an M&E system for agricultural activities.
- Design and implement a continuous training scheme for beneficiaries concerning the various agricultural activities in order to facilitate sustainability of the activities fostered by the project Strengthen the organizational capacity of the communities by means of capacity building exercise
- Promote the installation of Village Master Farmers/agricultural Promoters in the communities Elaborate training documents and draft detailed work plans in collaboration with other project staff and project manager for appropriate review and clearance; Provide appropriate technical specifications for agricultural inputs procurement.
- Coordinate agricultural inputs supply and their distribution to the final beneficiaries granting transparency and accountability.
To submit bi-weekly or monthly narrative reports to the Senior Agronomist / PLC and ensure proper maintenance of databases, files and reference materials; To perform any other assignment given to him by the Senior Agronomist/PLC;

Qualification and experience (Minimum Standards):
- Applicants must have a fully fledged University Degree in Agricultural studies;
- Not less than 1-2 year of work with NGO in the same position Good experience in planning and community rural livelihood activities;
- Good knowledge of spoken and written English with good aptitude in reporting;
- Previous field experience in food security/agricultural related project Excellent Computer skills;
- Good practical management skills and experiences, good communications skills;
- Ability to work under pressure, good team working skills;
- Conditions: Travel expenses will be covered for work purposes.
