Background

As a global intergovernmental organization, IOM supports governments to effectively manage the various challenges related to migration and also provides direct assistance to migrants and host communities.
Responsibilities
Under the joint direct supervision of the Head of Sub-office and Senior Admin/ /Finance Assistant in Kayin State, with cl lose guidance from the Resource Management Officer in Yangon, in constant collaboration with programme staff in Kayin State and Admin/Finance colleagues in Yangon, the incumbent is accountable for supporting the smooth operations of admi inistrative, financial, logistical, and programmatic aspects of IOM' 's activities a at State level.
In particular, she/he e will be responsible to:
- Handle the petty cash accou unt of the sub-office; execute cash payments; ensure proper documentation; maintain sufficient level of cash at all times; prepare the cash certificate at the end of each month.
- Verify invoices and expense claims; ascertain that the requirements, equipment, supplies or services they refer to were duly received or provided before proceeding with payment request.
- Assist to review with programme team workplans, activities, and purchase orders to ensure that proposed activities are in line with approved budget; where discrepancy appears between proproposed expenditure and available budget, must t immediately notify programme staff, and through facilitation of Senior Admin/Finance Officer, Head of Sub -office, Yangon counterparts, and programme team to reach a consensus prior to approving.
- After obtaining appropriate approvals, effect payments to suppliers and staff members.
- Enter payments, receipts, and non-cash vouchers in the field accounting system, PRISM.
- Maintain PRISM accounting software including regular maintenance functions and monthly closing procedures
- Ensure that all supporting documentatio on and signatures are obtained before finalizing vouchers.
- Maintain an orderly and systematic filing system for vouchers.
- Assist with the maintenance of an effective banking system, including preparation of monthly IOM Mission n in Myanmar

Desired Qualifications
- Academic background in Business Administration or related field.
- Two years of progressive experience in related field.
- Highly organized with strong preparation and planning skills.
- Work experience with UN, INGO, or related organization a distinct advantage.
- Team-oriented, capacity to work independently; sensitive to gender issues, personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, experience in working effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds at all levels.
- Good writing and communication skill in English is an advantage.
- Excellent computer skills in MS office and Excel.
- Highly motivated and able to work not only in the township but rural areas as well.
