We are currently recruiting for a volunteer who will be able to assist the USA Team ideally for 2-3 days a week for a minimum of 3 months. If you are interested in volunteering for our team, we would like to hear from you
The successful volunteer would be expected to carry out the following tasks:
- Press monitoring and electronic filing: the team monitors a variety of news and information sources. Relevant pieces of information are filed electronically into databases, with important items forwarded to the relevant team members.
- Filing and photocopying : the team has a very detailed filing system – both electronic and manual – which needs to be updated; this involves some photocopying and scanning.
- Correspondence : The volunteer will assist in answering general correspondence by letter or email. They will also be asked to assist with monitoring the team’s electronic mailbox.
- Updating address books/contact lists: We require updated information on authorities/prisons, police departments, etc, in order to send out research and campaigning materials promptly. The volunteer will assist in keeping these lists updated.
- Assisting with research and campaigning projects devised by the team.
We would expect the successful volunteer/intern to have the following essential skills and experience:
- Good working knowledge of computers; familiarity with word processing, databases and typing;
- Fluent level of written and spoken English;
- Some knowledge of campaigning organisations and AI’s work;
- Experience in gathering and processing information, including library, internet, etc;
- Experience of working in a team;
- Administrative experience, including manual and electronic filing;
- Press monitoring;
- Ability to multi-task;
- Willingness to undertake office work like photocopying, filing and archiving.
Desireable skills & experience:
- Good inter-personal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Background through study, work or other experience in a relevant area, such as law, international relations, political science, social sciences
- Interest in and knowledge of the region.
