Description
The Microsoft Technical Evangelist (TE) is a member of the Central Region Developer and Platform Evangelism (DPE) team that uses deep software development knowledge, engaging technical writing and persuasive presentation skills to inspire students, startups, and professional developers to build applications for the Windows platform.
As a member of this team, you will engage the developer community through participation in Microsoft-led events, attending and presenting at user groups, meetups, Startup Weekends and hackathons as well as developing deep relationships with developer community leaders and scaling to reach hundreds of thousands of developers through online channels.
This is a highly technical role with the mission of engaging and inspiring the broad community of developers and fostering adoption of Microsoft development technologies such as Windows 8, Windows Phone, Windows Azure, and other emerging technologies. The TE leads by example and invests heavily in cultivating productive, influential partners and community leaders.
Responsibilities
•Driving app development on Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and Windows Azure
•Defining and creating technical assets such as reference apps, starter kits and patterns and practices guidance for use at in-person events and online
•Supporting Microsoft-driven events and product launches
•Delivering highly impactful technical content at events and through online channels
•Engaging the student, startup and professional developer communities in person and online
•Developing deep relationships with community leaders and influencers
•Qualifications
•8+ years of experience writing code. Experience shipping a product is preferred.
•Experience in a broad set of developer technologies including Windows 8, Windows Phone and HTML5/CSS/JavaScript, or similar competitive technologies.
•Ability to communicate concepts and code in a concise and instructive manner in writing and as a technical presenter.
•Passion for technology with solid knowledge of enterprise global IT requirements and competitive offerings required.
•The strong candidate will have deep involvement with the Microsoft developer community either as an MVP, User Group Leader, or active community speaker/blogger.
•A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science preferred.
