Description
We’re looking for an experienced server engineer to expand our New York based team at
GroupMe. You’ll work with a fantastic team of passionate engineers who love the challenge of
delivering a useful service to millions of people every day. People rely on GroupMe;
performance and reliability are critical to delivering a great experience. We need more smart
people to help us keep growing around the world. Come help us build the best group
messaging service ever!
Responsibilities:
* Working with server engineers to build new and improve existing scalable web services
* Working with support staff to investigate and solve operational issues
* Development of performance monitoring and alerting tools
* Daily monitoring of application and infrastructure health
* Daily support of infrastructure and tools
Requirements:
* Experience administering large web applications, Rails, Sinatra, and Node.js preferred
* Experience automating operations processes (chef, puppet, etc)
* Proficiency in designing web applications
* Experience administering production deployments of linux (preferably Ubuntu)
* Proficiency in SQL, high-performance PostgreSQL preferred
* Experience deploying and scaling services on Amazon EC2
* Experience with redis and memcache
* Proficiency in a scripting language, Ruby preferred
* Experience in a systems language, C or Go preferred
* Experience debugging networked services
* Experience with test-driven development
