Position: 
This position requires that the person will understand the design of Microsoft products to ensure that the products are shipped with the highest quality during mass production. 

The successful candidate will perform engineering debug, failure analysis, and part evaluations to drive quality, cost, supply, and component improvements. The person in this position will be responsible for identifying the factory / manufacturing issues and quickly diagnosing early field failures. 

Primary responsibilities include the analysis of the factory and early fields data to develop corrective actions and eliminate the failures. It requires interaction with the factory contract manufacturers, supplier quality engineers, as well as development engineers. 

The successful candidate will work with a small group of engineers to perform root cause analysis, develop and perform experiments, provide summary reports to management, and determine the proper course of action. Further, the successful candidate will expand their knowledge of other disciplines including, but not limited to operations, manufacturing, mechanical, and silicon through the course of their work. Effective collaboration with a variety of peer groups across the organization is critical to this role. 

Description: 
- Ensure no quality excursions in mass production of products 
- Understand product designs and provide support at engineering builds 
- Proactively work with cross-groups to drive continuous improvement 
- Provide validated debug procedures to contract manufacturers for proper repairs 
- Submit professional and substantiated recommendations to Quality team for quality issues 
- Provide mentoring and technical leadership to a one or more engineers to manage production problems, conduct fault isolation / analysis, and drive solutions 
- May require frequent travel to contract manufacturers for on-site support 

Qualifications: 
- Minimum BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline 
- 10+ years of experience with “hands-on” engineering such as board debug or bring up in a laboratory environment. 
- Strong problem solving, analysis, and experiment design skills 
- Solid understanding of core electrical engineering principles, circuit design and analysis 
- Must be able to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms 
- Understanding of failure modes effects and analysis 
- Basic knowledge in computer architecture and system design
