About the Job
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is seeking a Meeting Planner.
- The position reports to the Senior Director, Meetings and Language Services.
- The selected individual will:
- Design and execute all aspects of external and internal meetings and conferences, including ICANN Public Meetings, that support the company's business strategies and objectives
- Engage with contractors and vendors in the execution of meetings and conferences
- Interact with multiple external and internal stakeholders to ensure business objectives are met
- Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Plan and implement external and internal meetings and conferences
- Manage all logistical details of events including site evaluation and selection, facility contract negotiation, hotel room block management, food and beverage planning, agenda planning, on-site administration, and registration tools
- Handle all meeting and conference administration activities including budget management, project plan development and management, invoice payments and billing reconciliation
- Exceptional professionalism, control and confidence
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the company
- Excellent organizational, administrative, problem-solving and negotiation skills, including the ability to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously
- Fluent in English, any other language is a plus
- 3-5 years experience in meeting and event planning
- Advanced knowledge of meeting and conference practices
- Highly proficient with MS Office programs and meeting planning database tools
Other Requirements
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel extensively, up to two weeks at a time, for site visits, preparatory meetings and event execution
ICANN is a nonprofit public benefit corporation responsible for the global coordination of the Internet's system of unique identifiers.
- These include domain names as well as the addresses used in a variety of Internet protocols.
- Computers use these identifiers to reach each other over the Internet.
- Careful management of these resources is vital to the Internet's operation, so ICANN's global stakeholders (Registrars, Registries, Internet user groups, etc.) meet regularly to develop policies that ensure the Internet's ongoing security and stability.
